Color From Foliage

What many people forget when landscaping is that foliage and form are equally important as flowers. While the creamy, cascading blossoms of the philadelphus are charming (not to mention deliciously fragrant!) what really makes this country garden scene special is the combination of the blue gray foliage of the juniper and hosta, the large, deep green massing of the boxwood, and the wonderful variegated foliage of the bamboo and golden yew. Note too, how the detailed herringbone pattern of the brick walk creates an element of year-round interest in what could potentially be just a prosaic pathway.
